Launching the Decentralized Infrastructure Network: a Partnership of Infura, LinkRiver and Other Leading Web3 Infrastructure Providers
Table of contents (5)

Today we are excited to announce LinkRiver’s latest partnership — in collaboration with Infura (developed by Consensys), the #1 developer platform for Web3 tools, as well as Tencent, Microsoft and other leading Web3 infrastructure providers, we are launching the Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN).
Avoiding Centralization and Single Points of Failure in Web3
As the Web3 industry matures and adoption rapidly increases across enterprises and institutions, critical infrastructure has to meet higher user demands. Decentralized applications (dApps) read states from and write data to blockchains using Remote Procedure Calls (RPC). These are in turn carried out by RPC nodes, the operation of which requires extensive expertise in the area of Web3 infrastructure.
To save developers additional effort in an area they are unfamiliar with, RPC-as-a-Service providers offer high-performance API endpoints across a variety of blockchain networks.
Infura is the best-known provider in this area and is committed to fostering the most important ethos of Web3 — decentralization. While providers take all possible measures to ensure high availability, relying on just one of them implies centralization and therefore the risk of a single point of failure.
Infura’s Decentralized Infrastructure Network: a Distributed RPC Layer
In order to decentralize the RPC layer at the provider level and thus address existing market limitations, Infura has decided to launch DIN. The network is an alliance of the leading Web3 infrastructure providers to offer the best possible experience to millions of future users with increased availability, speed and security.
By each participant doing the best to get the maximum performance out of their RPC nodes and then bundling them, DIN as an overall network will be able to offer an unparalleled service without any changes in the integration for users.
We are excited to collaborate with many great organizations to build the federated version of the Decentralized Infrastructure Network, and progressively decentralize together.
The experience these partners have in the distributed computing space is impressive, it is an honor to work alongside them.
Thomas Hay, Head of Product for DIN

LinkRiver’s Contribution to a More Reliable Blockchain Ecosystem
As one of the leading Chainlink node operators, LinkRiver has proven the professional operation of RPC nodes on 13 different blockchain networks over the last few years with an uptime of 99.99%. In addition to the main RPC network, which consists of a pool of internal nodes, we have also been using Infura’s RPC service as an additional failover capability for 3 years.
Lowering the barrier to entry and further decentralizing Web3 infrastructure has been the central part of our corporate identity since the beginning. Abstracting the operation of mission critical infrastructure away from the area of responsibility of developers by joining forces as experts is an important part of this.
It makes us proud to be able to bring a project of such magnitude to life together with Infura and many other valued colleagues.
